Ballathie offers access to a wide range of sporting opportunities and has a particular reputation for salmon fishing. The Hotel even has special facilities for fishermen. These include the specially designed Fishermen's Annexe where all 16 rooms rooms have a balcony and a view of the river. As might be expected from a hotel where the angler's needs have been carefully thought through, it includes a superb rod room, freezer and drying facilities, bait fridge and lots of hot water. For those on a budget the Sportsman's Lodge while perhaps not up to the 4 star standard of the Annexe and main Hotel offers excellent value for money and access to the superb facilities.

The Estate provides 1,500 acres of low ground and woodland for the sportsman whilst gentler pursuits of tennis and croquet are available in the grounds. The championship course of Rosemount is just down the road while St. Andrews and Carnoustie are within easy reach, as are the hills and glens on Angus and Perthshire.

Ballathie is very much a house although now a hotel and the furnishings and warm atmosphere reflect this. Rooms are equipped to the very highest standards with all the accessories you would expect of a country house hotel.

Ballathie House Hotel offers Scottish hospitality in a building of character and distinction dating from 1850. The original public rooms are elegantly furnished and the spacious premier bedrooms retain antique furniture and period bathrooms with all modern facilities.

Here the grandeur of the past blends with the comforts of modern day living to provide our guests with a relaxed atmosphere, where personal attention still counts and where the delights of our award winning Scottish Cuisine can be enjoyed to the full, enhanced by fine wines from around the world. Chef Kevin MacGilivray and his ex Culinary Olympic teammate Willie Deans have received popular and critical acclaim. Food is local with Tay salmon, beef, lamb, game and West Coast seafood featuring regularly.
