Situation

The beats lie amongst some of the most breathtakingly attractive countryside of Perthshire. Located some 9 miles north of the Royal Burgh of Perth, communications are excellent with regular rail links whilst Edinburgh airport (50 miles) lies a swift car journey away.

The River Tay

The River Tay is renowned for producing some of the most exciting and consistent salmon fishing in Scotland. The river enjoys an excellent reputation for the quality of the fish caught with a particularly productive autumn run. The season runs from 15th January to 15th October.

Stobhall

The beats extend to some 1.9 miles and run opposite to Taymount, with whom there is a reciprocal arrangement and excellent relations. It includes some of the most famous pools on the river; The Linn Pool, Findford Head, Alderns and Kill Mou amongst this number. Traditionally fished by 12 rods, the addition of Campsie Linn increases this potential.

Fishings

There is a good variety of water with excellent fishable water at different heights. Stobhall is well known for its quality fly water. The beat is one of the few that has produced remarkably consistent records in most years and is one of the most productive on the river. Stobhall and Taymount are well known as big fish beats and produce a number of fish in excess of 20lb each season.
