River Tay - Kenmore, Castle, Point and Bolfracks Beats

Salmon started to arrive in the Kenmore/Aberfeldy area on Saturday 25th September - a bit late, but we were pleased to see them. A good fish was lost from the Point on that day and four more were lost on Monday and Tuesday from the same pool. Rods on the Kenmore and Castle beats did a little better. Mr Currie from Moness took his first ever salmon (11lb) from the Battery Pool and followed this with a grilse a few minutes latter. Several more grilse were seen in the pool that morning. Dr Tomkin from the Boathouse had a grilse from the Dairy.

Malcolm Abrines had three salmon from the Point, weighing 18lb, 14½lb and 11½lb which were all returned. The fish fell to Munro Killers and an Ally's Shrimp variant. Peter Bull also fishing the Point took his first ever salmon of 7lbs on an ally's shrimp.

The river dropped back to a nice height and we had great expectations for the last few weeks, which are often the best.

Please note that with one exception - ALL the above fish were returned unharmed.

Paul Fishlock - Wednesday 29th September.
