Chinese is a scenic
pool and is sheltered from the winds. Fish pass
underneath the left hand arch and will often rest
on the boulders tucked into bank. Just below the
bridge are a set of rapids which tend to hold
the fish up. |

There is ample space
for a back cast, so even a single hander can be
effective. The Chinese fishes best at medium water,
but is one of the pools where there is sufficient
slack water in the tail to entice a fish to stop
around. |

And when you get
tired, why not relax on the seat. A more beautiful
spot cannot be imagined. At the top of the pool
is a large boulder in the centre of the flow.
In the summer months this often attracts grilse
which can be seen flapping about from the seat.
In 1998 a lot of work was done repairing the banks.
Over 100 tons of top soil and gravel was brought
in to repair erosion and the pool is now back
to its full glory. |

Graham, a local angler
takes a rest. Graham is one of the few anglers
who have caught a grayling on this stretch. He
is an excellent angler who is prepared to hunt
out the better fish in the more inaccessible spots.
